Perform slow reps. You are cheating yourself by going fast and swinging. You need to have slow and controlled movement to maximize this workout.
You may also want to try it on a power tower with back support.

Slow your reps way down and make sure to engage your core FIRST before initiating the movement. This will help you to get more quality reps out of the workout and in the long run…more ripped obliques and abs!
i have problems with swinging like crazy when im doin hanging leg raises or “corkscrew” but i was wondering how to minimize how much i swing when doing this because i feel it takes away from my workout

The best way to lose oblique fat is to wrap your core with aluminum foil and hook it up to a car battery. Five minutes a side, then youre done.
