<p>Ever wondered what the best abs exercise is? It&#8217;s not an easy question to answer because there are so many different opinions on the topic and a lot of confusion because if you were to believe the infomercials then you would think that you need some gimmicky piece of equipment or fat burner in order to see your abs.</p>
<p>In truth, this is just not the case.</p>
<p>In fact the real truth is that there is no such thing as the best abs exercise. The reason being that the abdominal muscles are just like any other muscle group and in order for any muscle group to continue to strengthen and to grow it needs a variety of training stimulus so doing the same abs exercise day after day would be an inefficient waste of time. That&#8217;s why the idea of doing 100 crunches everyday is simply redundant.</p>
<p>Instead you need to challenge your abs with a wide variety of the best abs exercises to keep them constantly getting stronger. Even this is just not enough however as abs exercises only work a small muscle group and therefore do not have all great of a fat burning effect, but why is that important?</p>
<p>The main reason most guys can not see their abs has nothing to do with the strength or size of the abdominal muscles themselves but more to do with the layer of body fat that surrounds them. <p>Having six-pack, well-toned abs is sexy. That&#8217;s why we aspire to get toned abs. It&#8217;s not easy but it&#8217;s doable. We have to use up the fat as fuel for our body, then keep using those fats efficiently and adjust our way of thinking in order to successfully attain sexy, toned, six-pack abs.</p>
<p>Subcutaneous fat is where most of our body fat is located. That&#8217;s why doing isolated exercises like sit-ups will not burn fat although it will strengthen the abs.</p>
<p>Fat gets deposited into our stomach more as we age. In women, more fat gets deposited into their hips and thighs as well. Metabolism also slows with age. When we factor in a slowing metabolism with a change in the body&#8217;s fat distribution system, it is not surprising to see a thicker waistline.</p>
<p>One of the most effective ways to whittle that waistline is to engage in activities like biking, swimming, walking, hiking, aerobics and very active sports like basketball, tennis and other racquet sports. The key is to keep our heart rate up and in its training zone for a minimum of 20 minutes to train the heart muscle and effectively burn fat.</p>
<p>When we start losing subcutaneous fat, our skin becomes taut. We start looking firmer and more toned when we lose the fat in the muscles. And doing the above activities five times or more a week guarantees toned abs faster.</p>
<p>Efficient fat burning by the body requires muscle development. And because muscles burn fat very efficiently we want to work the larger group of muscles first as they use up more fat. Then we can work on the smaller muscles to aid in more fat loss.</p>
<p>Having the correct attitude towards fat and weight loss is essential to achieving success. Keep in mind that the numbers on the scale are just numbers. What&#8217;s important is losing inches. And when you finally fit into that pair of jeans, that means progress. It only takes a few weeks to see results, gain confidence and a better set of abs. </p>
<p>So remember, the key to sexy, toned, six-pack abs is to burn fat, burn it efficiently and to make sure that the correct attitude is present to see us through our goal.</p>

<p>The illusive lower ab exercises. It is funny how many people complain that the lower abdominal muscles are the hardest to work out yet so many people I talk to are completely lacking on their lower ab workout.</p>

<p>Our sedentary lifestyle has caused many of us to rely more on our upper abs and lower back than our lower abdominal muscles or our entire core to function. This is because sitting down all day does not engage the lower part of our stomach muscles regardless of how straight you try to keep your back while sitting.</p>
<p>Try to do high knees for a minute. Stand up straight and in one spot and lift your right knee to your chest, put it down and then do the same for your left knee. If you do it correctly, you&#8217;ll start to notice the burning in your lower abdominals. This is the feeling we want for any lower ab exercise we do!</p>
<p>I had that same exact problem! I thought all I had to do was sit ups galore and eventually viola! My lower abs would be worked just as well as my upper abs.</p>
<p>However, once I started to notice that my upper abdominal muscles were getting a lot more ripped and that my lower belly fat still stuck out, I sought my trainer for advice.</p>
<p>He told me that the abdominal muscles are not just one solid muscle and that there are upper ab exercises as well as a lower ab workout!</p>
<p>With this in mind, I was introduced to a few key exercises that really helped my lower belly fat problem&#8230;</p>
<p>Jackknives &#8211; Laying flat on my back with my arms pointing straight above my head and my toes pointing away from me I would lift my legs so that they were near perpendicular with the ground and then try to touch my toes while keeping my back straight as possible.Sicilian Sit Ups &#8211; I&#8217;d perform a sit up as normal but would extend my arms straight over head almost as if I was reaching for something directly above my head once I reached the top of the sit up.Hanging leg raises &#8211; This is the only of the lower ab exercises that required a pull up bar. I&#8217;d simply hang from the bar and try to form an &#8220;L&#8221; with my legs and my body, return to normal and try again. There are some people who use hanging ab straps for this but I prefer to free hang as it feels like I work my abs more!
<p>These three simple exercises helped me get started on my lower ab exercises that really helped me to lose belly fat once I combined them with a great diet and the perfect workout routine. The best thing is, this lower ab workout can be done at home!</p>
